Downtown Carriage Rides:
Carriage rides and tours are offered in
downtown Elizabeth City, NC Friday evenings
and Saturday afternoons on a regular basis.
Rides also available by appointment any
evening or Sunday afternoon . Rides begin at
Mariner's Wharf on Water Street.
Reservations are required at least 24 hours
in advance. *Note: There is a $60 minimum
for Carolina Carriages to come into Elizabeth
City if no other tours are running.
Romantic Carriage Rides, Friday
Evenings in Elizabeth City, 6-8 pm.
Carolina Carriages offers romantic carriage
rides through downtown Elizabeth City
15 minute rides:
-$25 per couple
-$15 per person
-$10 per child,
-$50 for private carriage (2-6 persons)
30 minutes rides:
-$35 per couple
-$60 for private carriage (2-6 persons)
Historic Tours, Saturdays 1 -3 pm
30 minute historic tour by carriage, includes
a guide in costume, knowledgeable in the
architecture and history of downtown
Elizabeth City and the surrounding areas.
Advance reservations recommended. Guide
provided by De' Tours of Elizabeth City

Haunted Carriage Tours, Thursday
and Saturday 7:30-9 pm: 45 minute
evening tour on Thursday or Saturday,
beginning at 7:30 and 8:15 pm. Learn about
the Elizabeth City's little-known mysterious
past by carriage lantern light and visit inside
an historic home. Guide provided by De'
Tours. Reservations required.
Haunted Tours:
-$45 per couple
-$25 per person
-$75 per private carriage, (2-6 persons) .
Special Event Rides:
From time to time, Carolina Carriages runs
its service in the downtown area for special
events such as Potato Festival, Harbor
Nights, etc., in which case short rides are
offered for $5 per person or $20 per family for
private carriage (up to 6 persons).
Bed and Breakfast Specials: Guests
staying at the Culpepper Inn, the
Grice-Fearing House, the Pond House or the
Elizabeth City Bed and Breakfast can arrange
for Carolina Carriages to pick up passengers
from these establishments and take them for
a 20-30 minute tour of downtown and either
return them back to the Inn or drop them off at
one of the downtown or waterfront
restaurants: Cyprus Creek Grill, City Wine
Seller, Grouper's, De Tour Teas, & the Tea
House.*
Price: $50 per couple: historic guide fee extra
*Note: For drop off trips, return transportation
is not included and should be arranged with
Inn or Restaurant. Trips outside the regular
downtown area route, (such as Montero's)
are subject to a surcharge.
